SustaiNext EU Summit

A Summit aimed at promoting the next generation of sustainability understanding amongst business leaders was held in Dublin City University (DCU) on 11th & 12th October. SustainEd was proud to be involved with helping to make this Sunnit happen.  This was organised by the US based Sustainability Collaborative and true to its name it was a collaborative venture involving many different partners. The likes of Rutgers University, Johnson & Johnson, Best Foot Forward, SIMS and BD along with many individuals came together to conceive,  plan and promote the event which attracted 250 delegates over the two days. It was held in the Helix venue within DCU and many business students from the college attended to learn about how sustainability is shaping the future direction of business.

Universal Sustainability is the term coined by the keynote speaker, Professor Bob Lattimer of Rutgers University, to encompass the mind-shift needed to move from a business case based on situational values towards one based on sustainability values. This overarching concept was examined under six themes of the Summit namely – Agriculture and Food, Transformative Education, Global Society, Global Health, Green Finance and Transport – and participants engaged with the topics through various Q&A and Scenario sessions.
